Job Purpose

 The Software Engineer will support Matric by understanding customer needs and their respective job duties.  They will work to increase customer engagement by providing support to current and prospective customers by demonstrating dedication to quality, quantity and safety.  The Software Engineer will provide solutions by designing, developing and installing software solutions.

 The Software engineer will analyze information, design software, debug software, and perform software testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

A significant background in embedded system development for Industrial, Aerospace or IoT applications is preferred.

  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Obtains and licenses software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products.
  • Effectively collaborate with other embedded software and hardware engineers
  • Specify, develop, test, debug and optimize embedded software
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse and experienced team of developers in sometimes ambiguous but creative and fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on embedded software or systems designer
  • Participate in a wide range of engineering activities across functional teams.
  • Capability to gather and distill requirements from multiple sources
  • Ability to schedule project work and meet deadlines
  • Proposing and implement designs, debug challenging problems.
  • Direct support for customer deployments.
  • Some travel may be required to support customers
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure units are properly programmed and tested
  • Develop test plans for hardware and software verification
  • Work with hardware engineers to develop software to help verify circuits
  • Switch tasks quickly when necessary to support customers and manufacturing.




  • BS and/or MS degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Physics or Math.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of embedded designs typically acquired through a combination of experience and education.
  • Verifiable proficiency with C, C++,
  • Embedded systems development experience
  • ARM, PowerPC, MIPS embedded CPU knowledge
  • DSP, Video, Audio processing a plus
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms
  • Programming experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to and work within assigned schedules
  • Good knowledge of software development processes including
    • Software development lifecycle
    • Project planning
    • Distributed software configuration management principles
    • Multi-tiered customer support.
  • Experience with Source Control such as GIT and HG
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and part datasheets

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of embedded software or systems experience
  • Experience with building Operating systems especially open source Linux, Real-time and multi-threaded environments
  • Experience developing embedded Linux drivers
  • Experience with bare-metal systems
  • Ability to use equipment such as Oscilloscopes and Voltage Meters to debug circuits.
  • Embedded Control software for Industrial applications
  • Experience with wireless stacks such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth a plus
  • Experience with various communication protocols such as:  I2C, SPI, SDIO, CAN, RS-232, RS-485, and 4-20 a plus
